In addition to the information below, please feel free to contact Dr. Lee Fitzgibbons for further information either by e-mail or at (207) 655-2737 for a free initial telephone consultation. We specialize in evidence-based, cognitive-behavioral treatments (CBTs) for anxiety and its disorders, such as:
Our standard outpatient treatment is typically provided on a one-session per week basis in our clinical office in Raymond, Maine. However, depending upon the disorder and the needs of the patient, therapy sessions may be scheduled more often than once per week or less frequently. If necessary and feasible, a few home visits may be arranged, but additional fees to cover travel costs may be charged. For many patients with an anxiety disorder called obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), once-a-week therapy is not enough. For those patients, OCD intensive programs provide specialized OCD treatment, with therapy sessions typically held almost every day for 3 to 4 weeks and with several hours of between-session practice assigned every day. However, OCD so often affects and involves not only the patient but also his or her family (especially when the OCD patient is a child) that we designed our standard OCD intensive program to be a family-oriented program. Our standard program encourages family involvement and incorporates family therapy to help families learn how to work as a team to free the patient and the family from the grip of OCD. We also have an individually-oriented OCD intensive program when family involvement is either impractical or not needed. Intended as an adjunct to treatment, this peer-to-peer support group provides adults struggling to overcome anxiety problems with a forum to meet and learn from others who are doing the same. It is open to any adult who is actively involved in some form of anxiety treatment (whether medication, therapy with us, therapy with someone else, or self-help). Although it is a support (not therapy ) group, Drs. Fitzgibbons and/or Street typically attend each session to be available as information resources. We often make presentations on anxiety, anxiety disorders, and anxiety treatments at conventions, hospitals, and community organizations. Please contact us if you would be interested in having us make a presentation to your group, facility, or organization._______________________________________________________________________
